Find our Placement offers and discover the beautiful land of Cyprus
A “golden-green leaf thrown into the Sea” and a land of “wild weather and volcanoes,” in the words of the Greek Cypriot poet Leonidas Malenis, Cyprus comprises tall mountains, fertile valleys, and wide beaches. Settled for more than 10 millennia, Cyprus stands at a cultural, linguistic, and historic crossroads between Europe and Asia.
Important to know before you leave for you internship in Cyprus
Cyprus has extensive cultural ties with Greece but is not under Greek control. It was a British colony from 1925 until 1960. Prior to that, it was under British administrative control from 1878 and under Ottoman Empire control for most of the preceding several hundred years. In addition, Cypriot banks do have some ties with Greece, and the banks are watching the situation very carefully, but the rest of the economy of Cyprus is separate from that of Greece. If Greece ends up leaving the Euro, that will not affect Cyprus, which will continue to use the Euro.
