How to demonstrate sufficient financial resources for a Study Visa in Spain

From Spain Internship, due to the doubts on the part of many students about how to demonstrate the amounts needed to prove to have sufficient financial resources for a study visa in Spain, we have transmitted a query to the Barcelona immigration office, which has detailed in a very specific way how it can be done.

The information we have is the following:

The requirement can be proven in one of the ways listed below. The validity of any other documentation provided will be subject to the assessment of the instructor of the file when submitting the request.

a) Bank account of an Entity with a branch in Spain in which the name of the owner is recorded, so that one of the following two options are met:

Current balance: (537.84 Euros x the months of the stay) PEE = study program in Spain

If PEE duration = 12 months => 537.84 x 12 = 6,454'08 Euros.

If PEE duration = 11 months => 537.84 x 11 = 5,916’24 Euros.

If PEE duration = 10 months => 537.84 x 10 = 5,378’40 Euros.

If PEE duration = 09 months => 537.84 x 09 = 4,840'56 Euros.

If PEE duration = 08 months => 537.84 x 08 = 4,302’72 Euros.

If PEE duration = 07 months => 537.84 x 07 = 3,764’88 Euros.

If PEE duration = 06 months => 537.84 x 06 = 3,227’04 Euros.

If PEE duration = 05 months => 537.84 x 05 = 2,689'20 Euros.

If PEE duration = 04 months => 537.84 x 04 = 2,151’36 Euros.

If PEE duration = 03 months => 537.84 x 03 = 1,613’52 Euros

b) Average monthly income for the last 6 months equal to or greater than the IPREM, 537.84

In this case, in addition to the accreditation of monthly average income, the balance of the bank account must not be less than the amounts expressed in the following table:

If PEE duration = 12 months = 3,192'72 Euros.

If PEE duration = 11 months = 2,926’66 Euros.

If PEE duration = 10 months = 2,660'75 Euros.

If PEE duration = 09 months = 2,396'25 Euros.

If PEE duration = 08 months = 2,130’04 Euros.

If PEE duration = 07 months = 1,863'78 Euros.

If PEE duration = 06 months = 1,597'53 Euros.

If PEE duration = 05 months = 1,331'27 Euros.

If PEE duration = 04 months = 1,065'02 Euros.

If PEE duration = 03 months = 798’76 Euros.

c) Help from a family member residing abroad.

The notarized public document, or declaration before the corresponding Spanish consular authority, in any case duly legalized and, if applicable, translated.

When the students accredit the financial means with the same document with which they obtained the visa, and it consists of a declaration of the parents taking charge of the expenses, it will only be valid for the granting of the extension if supporting evidence of that it has actually been done as the document indicates, that is, that the money has been received in Spain.

In both cases it should be indicated:

1º.- amount expressed in Euros.

2º.- period of validity.

The documents must be translated, where appropriate, and legalized "at least with the stamp of our Consulate in the country."

d) SCHOLARSHIP OF THE U.E. EU scholarship card with an indication of:

1º.- amount expressed in Euros.

2º.- period of validity.

The assessment of the SCHOLARSHIP will be carried out according to the amount and duration of the latter in relation to the enrollment of the corresponding studies.

NOTE: In the case of a SCHOLARSHIP FROM A COUNTRY OUTSIDE THE U.E. the document must be legalized (at least with the stamp of the Spanish Consulate in the country of origin) and translated, where appropriate.
